DIRECTORS STATEMENT

“This is a significant moment for women working in genre films and horror in particular. From a very young age, most women develop a personal and persistent relationship to fear and blood. Night's End is a nuanced kind of chamber piece that presents a complex dynamic between predator and prey and speaks to the aspiration and devastation of isolation. It denies assumptions about who, in our current culture, is allowed to be afraid. This film is a character study about a man in peril who I intentionally reveal through my own feminine lens. Night's Endis a proper genre film with some aesthetic and narrative connections to The Tenant (1976) and vintage John Carpenter.” -JENNIFER REEDER

Jennifer Reeder was recently named by Bong Joon Ho as a filmmaker to watch in the 2020s. Her award-winning films have shown consistently around the world, including the Sundance Film Festival, The Berlin Film Festival, The Tribeca Film Festival, The Rotterdam Film Festival, The London Film Festival, SXSW, The Venice Biennale and The Whitney Biennial. A collection of her short films is currently streaming on the Criterion Channel. Feature length titles include Knives and Skin, V/H/S/94, Night's Endand the forthcoming Perpetrator.
